Good morning! I am very excited to move forward and get myself online, in hopes that more people seeking a unique and relaxed approach to horses find me ready, enthusiastic and available to help you peruse your goals!

Let me tell you a little about me. My name is Lily Shafer, I am 27 years old, and I’ve spend the majority of my life in the saddle. I’ve been passionate about all things horses for as long as I can remember. I started riding when I was 8 years old, and began showing at 12 years old. I never grew up with a formal trainer and always showed alone not affiliated with 4-H groups or things like that. I found that the most satisfying thing in the world was to learn on your own and be directly responsible for the outcomes of hard work, dedication, and patience. I have been lucky enough to meet many wonderful horsemen and woman, and have learned countless things from every person I have ever spent time around. I believe there is no “correct way” of training horses or people! We are all different and require a different approach to things. Just like us horses have things they enjoy doing, and things they don't. I’ve always found that if you learn to listen a horse will tell you what job he or she may enjoy best.

Choosing to take my own road was one decision I’ll always be thankful for. It’s aloud me to remain open minded and humble. My goals moving forward are to create an environment for both horse and rider to learn clear communication and trust with one another. To set goals and set them into motion, and mostly to offer an opportunity to spend time with these magnificent animals.

When I ride, or spend time in the barn, every worry seems to melt away. Suddenly real like probably such as bills, scheduling, household chores all seem very far away. As someone who struggles with anxiety I can tell you there’s no greater therapy than the smell of a clean barn. Theres something intoxicating about the smell of sweet hay, fresh bedding, and the sounds of horses happily calling out to you in hopes of a treat. I do not consider myself a trainer in any specific discipline, I enjoy training and every discipline I encourage every horse and rider to be well-versed and well-rounded. If any of this sounds like something that would be beneficial to your life, please do not hesitate to contact me. I encourage anyone with any level of skill to consider spending time with me and enjoy a more relaxed approach to horses!

cheers,

Lily
